225-gallon Cost List

Here is what we have now:
-225-gallon fish tank - $600 (thank you to fishyjoe24 of thefishconnection forum)
-100 lbs live rock - $200 (thank you to corwin of the dfwmas forum)
-240 lbs live sand, 225 gallons-worth of saltwater mix, and chemicals - $360 (good discount with Dallas North Aquarium's big yearly sale)

Here is our immediate wish list:
-72" saltwater aquarium light
-two 36" glass lids
-powerheads, fitration (still deciding on what equipment to use), more live rock (already have about 170 lbs, should have at least 225 lbs for this tank)

I'll be updating as we slowly build up this tank. This is a slow and expensive process (as saltwater tanks usually are), so please be patient. Also, the biggest tank we've ever had is 55-gallons, so this monster tank will be first for us.

We have the live rock, sand, and salt mix ready for the tank. We will be picking up the fish tank Monday.

Pictures coming soon!

Old Fish Tank Videos

So a few days ago, my SO (significant other) decides to buy a 225 gallon fish tank. This blog will be dedicated to our new project- this 225 gallon tank, but first, I wanted to refer back to setups we've had in the past.

Here's some old videos of tanks we've had:

Here's a step-by-step forum thread I wrote for converting a 55-gallon tank from fresh- to salt- water: http://www.reefbuilders.com/forums/reef-building-step-step/2198-converting-wal-mart-special-aqua-tech-tank-into-saltwater-canvas.html

You can also photobucket search mestupidcat to fish around for old fish tank pictures and videos.
Enjoy! Thanks for reading. Questions and helpful comments always welcome :)
